How we write

A good caption is short, specific and sounds like you. This is how the pages on CaptionSpot are made.

First drafts

AI writing tools help us with first drafts of the captions and the notes around them. Their job ends there.

A person edits every line

An editor reads each caption against the photo it is meant for, trims it to posting length, cuts anything that sounds like a greeting card, and drops lines that feel too familiar. Many drafts never make the page.

Keeping it new

New lines are checked against the rest of the site and against common phrases people already post, so your caption does not match a hundred others.

Keeping it kind

No lines about anyone’s body or worth, no risky riding lines, nothing mean. The captions celebrate the place, the light and the effort.
